TWO new sergeants have joined the Barnstaple Neighbourhood Beat Team.
Sgt Helen Holmes and Sgt Ewan Seear have joined the team, replacing Sgt Paul Jones who has moved to a new role after four years as the Neighbourhood Team Leader. The new additions to the team will work alongside Inspector Pete Sarney.
Sgt Holmes, who has been a sergeant for seven years, has previously worked in Barnstaple, Bideford, Torrington and Plymouth.
She said “Barnstaple is a fantastic and extremely safe place to live and work and overall crime has reduced by 20% over the last three years.
“I am determined to ensure that our team remains as integrated as possible into the local community and keeps this area a safe place to be.”
Sgt Seear, who has been a sergeant for five years, was previously a patrol sergeant in Barnstaple and Bideford.
He said: “I have settled down really well into my new role and am relishing the new challenge. Our team has performed exceptionally well in previous years and I am keen to continue that performance”.
Inspector Sarney said he was “delighted” the officers had joined the team.
He said: “I am confident they will ensure that the local team continue to provide a visible and reassuring presence on our streets and will lead by example”.
