New councillor for Torridge

A NEW councillor has been voted in to represent the Hartland and Bradworthy ward on Torridge District Council.

Liberal Democrat, Brian Redwood, won the seat with 786 votes.

He takes over from Torridge's longest serving councillor Bill Pillman who died of cancer in October at the age of 71.

Fifty one percent of the 2,430 electorate voted - 317 votes went to Simon Goaman, Conservative; Robin Julian, UKIP won 103 and Clifford Pryor, Independent won 33.

Cllr Redwood, 32, is a former Hartland primary and Bideford College pupil.
