A MOTORCYCLIST died following a collision with a van on Exmoor yesterday evening.
Police were called to the scene on the A396 near Wheddon Cross at around 6pm.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Two motorcyclists were riding along the A396 near Wheddon Cross travelling towards the B3224 when one was involved in a collision.
“The rider was overtaking a car when he was involved in a collision with a Ford Transit van travelling in the opposite direction.
“Unfortunately the rider received serious injuries and died at the scene.”
A police investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision.
The vehicle being overtaken, which police believe was either a blue Ford Fiesta or Focus, stopped at the scene but the driver left without leaving any contact details.
Police would like to speak to the driver and anyone else who witnessed the collision.
