TORRIDGE could have its first McDonalds restaurant if plans for the multi-million pound fast food chain, along with another restaurant and hotel, are approved.
Plans for a drive-through McDonalds, a Brewers Fayre restaurant and a Premier Inn form the proposed development called Atlantic Park, which would be built in woodland opposite Atlantic Village Shopping Centre.
Developers hope to submit the plans to Torridge District Council in July.
The owner of the site, Wessex Projects Ltd, has already secured Whitbread as the operator of the site.
Maria Bailey, a planning consultant for the project, said: "Premier Inn could have extended their Barnstaple hotel but we are hoping this development will draw people into Bideford.
"We are hoping if plans are approved then we can start building early next year and all three buildings would be completed and operational at some point in 2013.
The developer is holding a public consultation in the former Gap store at Atlantic Village on Thursday, June 21 from noon to 8pm and at the Burton Art Gallery from 10am to 1pm on June 22.
