Matt Deakin scored twice as Boca Seniors maintained their 100 per cent record in the North Devon League with a 4-3 win at Torridgeside.
Having lost a host of players over the summer, Boca were not expected to challenge for the Premier Division title but have made a strong start to the season, winning their first five games.
With the match switched to Donnacroft, the Barnstaple side settled well as Deakin and Richard Shannon put them 2-0 up by half time.
Torridgeside – themselves rebuilding after losing a number of last year's championship winning team – responded with a goal from Marc Bettiss early in the second half.
Simon Grigg scored their equaliser, continuing his impressive form since stepping up from Torridgeside reserves.
Ciaron Lishman then put Boca ahead with his first goal since signing from Chittlehampton, only for Grigg to cut in from the wing and drill a superb equaliser.
Just when it looked like both teams would have to settle for a point, Deakin stepped forward to fire a winning free kick in off the post.
Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Dolton secured their first win, thumping Chittlehampton 7-2, Torrington beat Shamwickshire Rovers by the same scoreline and Ilfracombe Town defeated Barnstaple AAC 3-2.
