MATT ANDREW'S fourth goal in four games was not enough to give Bideford victory against AFC Totton this afternoon.
The Robins had to settle for a 1-1 draw in the Evo-Stik League Southern after an equaliser from Richard Gillespie early in the second half.
Despite having the better of the play, the hosts found it difficult to break down a well-organised Totton defence.
Bideford went close in the early stages with corners from Ian Sampson twice flashing across goal and Ben Wood just failing to get his head to the ball from close range.
The opening goal came after 30 minutes when Sampson lifted a cross to the far post and Andrew sent a looping header back past goalkeeper Gareth Barfoot.
But Totton made a bright start to the second half and Jamie Coutts and Ryan Hill combined to set up Gillespie for the equaliser.
Bideford responded strongly and Sean Downing twice sent over crosses from which no home player could apply the finishing touch.
Downing's threat was growing and Baily Cargill was shown the yellow card for a late challenge on the winger.
Cargill was fortunate to escape a second card after appearing to lash out at Downing off the ball, only to be substituted as the referee opted not to take further action.
As Bideford searched for a winner, Barfoot denied Kevin Squire and Matt Andrew while, at the other end, Tim Sandercombe kept out a near-post effort from Jordan Chiedozie.
The draw means Bideford remain 16th in the premier division while Totton have moved up one place to 12th, a point clear of Chesham United.
Bideford are at home again on Tuesday when fourth-placed Cambridge City are the visitors (7.45pm).
The Toolstation Western League games involving Ilfracombe Town and Barnstaple Town were postponed.
Witheridge's Carlsberg South West Peninsula League match was also off but Appledore drew 2-2 at Okehampton Argyle and Holsworthy won 2-1 away to Vospers Oak Villa.
