STAGED in English with elegant 18th century costumes, Mozart's most famous opera, The Marriage Of Figaro, will be brought to life by Swansea City Opera. The show promises to be an enchanting and hilarious evening's entertainment – a feast for the eyes and ears.

The opera recounts a single day in the palace of the Count Almaviva in Spain. The Count has designs on one of his maids, Susanna, who is going to be married to Figaro, the Count's valet. Figaro, Susanna, and the Countess conspire to embarrass the Count and expose his infidelity.

The Marriage of Figaro with Swansea City Opera is at the Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple on Saturday, March 1, 7.30pm. Tickets: £9.50 to £22.50. Box office: 01271 324242.

There will be a pre-performance talk about the opera and production at 6.15pm in the Gallery Café given by the artistic director of Swansea City Opera, Brendan Wheatley. Cost: £3 (general public), £1 (NDT member) includes refreshments.
