A 25-year-old man has been charged with four counts of sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl.
Sam Prowse, of Grebe Court, Bridgwater, Somerset appeared before North Devon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
He has been charged with three counts of sexually touching the eight-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, and a further count of sexual activity with the same child.
Prowse only spoke to confirm his name and address and deny the charges, which are alleged to have happened in North Devon between April 1 2010 and November 1 2010.
The case has been sent to Exeter Crown Court for trial on October 4.
Prowse has been released until then on conditional bail. The conditions include not to contact the victim and not to have any unsupervised contact with a child under 18-years-old.
