A 31-year-old Bideford man has been arrested after nearly £1,500 in cash was seized during a police raid at a property in the town.
Police officers executed a search warrant under the Theft Act in Market Place, Bideford on September 3.
Around £1400 in notes and a large amount of coins, shaving kits, unopened alcohol, cosmetics, ladies shoes, Bosch drill bits and a large amount of tobacco were all seized from the home.
The 31-year-old, was arrested for theft and subsequently a second address in Watkins Way, East The Water, Bideford was also searched.
The second search led some alcohol also being seized and an application was made at Exeter Magistrates Court to retain the cash seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
The 31-year-old, who was reported for offences of handling stolen property, remains on police bail while further enquires are carried out.
Acting Sergeant Paul Strutt, of the proactive delivery team based at Barnstaple Police Station, said: “This forms part of an on-going initiative to combat theft and the handling of stolen property linked to the use and supply of illegal drugs”.
