APOPULAR North Devon band will play during the finale of the Bude Jazz Festival this Friday. The Steve Tucker All Star Jazz Band, who are in their 12th year, have been playing at the festival for the past eight years. They are delighted to be one of the bands helping to close the 2013 festival.
"Bude is a festival celebrating the early years of jazz and is unique in Britain, indeed unique in Europe," said Steve. "This major event has been wonderfully supported by jazz fans throughout its 26 years. This is a major event in the jazz world."
Their special guest at the concert will be Craig Milverton, voted in 2010 and 2012 the best jazz pianist of the year at the British Jazz Awards.
"Craig plays with a who's who of British and international jazz talent including Digby Fairweather, Paul Jones (Manfred Mann and BBC Radio 2 blues man) Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, Jamie Cullum to name but a few," said Steve.
The band will perform at the Waterfront Marquee, a special dance marquee at Bude's Adventure Centre, which has room for a huge number of dancers on the dance floor.
"There's plenty of room for sitting back and watching, too. There are dance workshops every morning in the dance marquee for beginners, improvers and advanced."
A network of venues of various shapes and sizes ensures that the festival offers a brilliant array of jazz.
"This year there will be more than 45 bands over four days. There will be buskers and parades for those who wish to display their brolly creations with prizes for the best decorated creations," said Steve. "A regular jazz bus service will run to all events as well as picking up and dropping off at venues."
The Steve Tucker All Star Jazz Band play at the Waterfront Marquee, Bude on Friday, August 30, 8pm.
Bude Jazz Festival runs this week (started Tuesday 27) until Friday August 30. Day stroller tickets: £22 on 01288 355694.
