IF you enjoy music and dance with a fun atmosphere, why not try ballroom dancing?

After having great success last year with their beginners’ Ballroom and Latin dance lessons (they have an existing group of 30 enthusiastic dancers), Kevin Guymer and Carol Phillips are offering an exciting, new group for total beginners starting in February.

Kevin and Carol have a wealth of teaching and professional dancing experience between them. Kevin is an accredited teacher with the ISTD and Carol, who originally trained and danced with the Royal Ballet in London, has also studied International Style Ballroom Dance.

“Our method of teaching is very relaxed and we concentrate on only one dance at a time with plenty of repetition and ongoing revision so it’s not too difficult for complete beginners,” said Kevin. “Singles are very welcome and we make time for some socialising.”

The couple aim is to show complete beginners how to dance simple routines around a crowded dance floor with confidence. “The emphasis in our classes is strictly on the fun element and not too serious, however, we will also be imparting all the technical information, so you can take as much or as little as you want,” said Carol.

Classes are every Thursday evening at Fremington Church Hall starting on Thursday, February 6. Beginners: 7 to 8pm. Social dancing: 8 to 8.30pm. Improvers: 8.30pm to 9.30pm. Price £5 per person weekly or both lessons £8. Details: 01271 860145 or email cphillips1@talktalk.net.
