Holsworthy are off the mark in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League after a 1-0 win over Vospers Oak Villa last night.
Having started the Division One West season with four straight defeats, conceding 21 goals, Holsworthy got their first points through Mike Cornew's late header at Upcott Field.
With Holsworthy tightening up in defence, it was goalless at half time, but the home side pushed forward more after the break with Mitch Cisneros driving them on from midfield.
They finally broke through with Cornew's goal from a corner by Jack Hayman in the 89th minute.
Kevin Taylor, the manager, was encouraged by a "great team performance" in which Ian Rowe played a full 90 minutes despite a hamstring injury.
The three points lift Holsworthy two places off the bottom of the table. They are at home to sixth-placed Porthleven on Saturday.
