A RECORD number attended the Fourth John Davies Western Area International Summer Training Camp.
More than 60 judoka aged 10 to 19 from Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Germany and France took part at Kingsley School, Bideford.
The camp involved plenty of training as well as fun activities including a bike ride on the Tarka Trail.
Javier Madera visited the camp before flying to Brazil to compete for Spain in the World Championships.
Bristol-based Pete Miles, 17, returned after attending the first camp three years ago. This season he has won a silver medal in the European Youth Olympics and bronze at the European Cadet Championships and World Under-18 Championships.
He was joined by Natasha Maslen, 19, from Team Bath, who was selected for the Under-21 European Championships.
Both fighters spent some time training with the group and led a session about their training programmes and their goals and achievements.
Kingsley pupils who attended the training camp over the five days were Jersey Ledger, Jamie Steer, Josh Steer, Cameron Lavelle, Louis Hughes and Clara Gawlas.
