KINGSLEY SCHOOL, Bideford, won the South West Trio competition and have qualified for the national finals.

Sophie Johns topped the individual standings but was pushed all the way by her rival gymnasts.

She was joined in the Kingsley team by Jasmine Boyd and Sarah Foxton.

Each completed a floor routine, two vaults and then together performed a group routine.

The Kingsley girls won each section to secure the title.

The Trio National Finals will be held in Stoke-on-Trent on March 9.

Individual tumblers represented their schools in the South West Schools Acrobatics Competition in Sherborne at the weekend.

In the under-11 section, Sophie Lethaby (Combe Martin) and Flynn Rostock (Sticklepath) tied for the silver medal.

With the top two gymnasts qualifying for the South West team, they went into a tumble-off and Sophie pipped Flynn to book her place at the National Finals in May.

Francesca Sayer (St Margaret's C of E) and Indya Dunn (Sticklepath) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Kaycee Wright (South Molton) demonstrated great speed and flight to take the under-14 bronze medal, ahead of Sophie Johns in sixth, Taylor Langmead seventh and Brooke Timmins (both Pilton) ninth.
