SOME of the most exciting bouts came in the smallest group at the fourth Kingsley School Judo Club Festival.
Jersey Ledger, a Year 1 pupil, won the under-20kg category after beating Ben Tullet, who won the silver medal, and Callum McMurray, who took bronze.
The tournament was designed to allow judoka from the school and its community club to test their skills and gain experience before entering outside competitions.
Brothers Josh and Jamie Steer, who are both in Year 6, won gold in their respective weight groups.
Aaron Hastie, a new club member, produced the throw of the day on his way to earning a bronze medal.
After the individual bouts, the participants were split into teams named after medallists from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The winning team was Karina Bryant (Ben Tullett, Finton Connor, Matteo Migliari-Ogunnuga, Felicity Barkley, Jamie Steer, Louis Hughes and Lilly Hastie), who beat Gemma Gibbons 4-2 in the final.
Spirit of judo awards, for outstanding sportsmanship and respect, went to Kye Marshall and Ursula Corbett.
