A man accused of causing the death of two of his friends in a car crash at Loxhore Cross in June last year has appeared in court.
Jason Mark Huxtable, 22, of Parsonage Farm, Bratton Fleming, entered no plea to four charges when he appeared at North Devon Magistrates’ Court this morning.
Huxtable, who wore a dark suit, blue shirt and striped tie, stood emotionless in the dock as his case was committed to the crown court.
A preliminary hearing into the case will take place at Exeter Crown Court on February 15.
Huxtable, whose parents looked on as he stood in the dock, is charged with causing the death of Emma Kift and Johnny Popple by driving while over the drink drive limit.
He is accused of having a blood alcohol level of 157 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The limit is 80.
Huxtable is also accused of two counts of causing death while driving while unlicensed, disqualified or uninsured.
Emma Kift's and Johnny Popple’s mothers were also in court to hear the proceedings.
