A drugs courier was caught with £4,000 worth of cocaine after being stopped by police in Ilfracombe.
Jake King, 32, of Marlborough Road, Ilfracombe, was sofa surfing and staying with friends in the resort when he was found with the drugs earlier this year.
He admitted possession with intent to supply when he appeared at Exeter Crown Court.
Judge Erik Salomonsen adjourned his case for the preparation of a probation report after being told he failed to attend an earlier interview.
Nigel Wraith, for the defence, said King did not receive his letter from the probation service because he was staying with friends in a house of multiple occupation in Hillsborough Terrace, Ilfracombe, where it may have gone astray.
King will be sentenced next month at Exeter Crown Court.
