Forecasters are warning motorists to take care on the region’s roads over the next few days with plummeting temperatures and surface water resulting in icy conditions.
The Met Office has issued a warning of ice across North Devon for Wednesday.
A spokesman at the Exeter-based forecasters also said there was a chance of snow for the region.
He said: “Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow will be clearing southwards on Tuesday night and early Wednesday, leaving surfaces wet and prone to freezing as skies clear and temperatures fall. There is also likely to be a slight covering of snow in places.
“However, across parts of southeast England, particularly Kent, some 2-4 cm of snow is possible this morning.
“The public should be aware of the potential for increased iciness, especially early on Wednesday, and possible disruption to travel.”
Cold weather is forecast over the next few days, especially tonight and Friday night.
Saturday is expected to be a dry and sunny day.
