A NORTH Devon seaside hotel is in line for a multi-million pound refurbishment, its new owners have revealed.

The Tors Hotel, at Lynmouth, was bought in July by the Miller family, which owns the Anchor in Porlock.

Until then it had been in the same hands for 50 years.

Martin Miller is well known for creating Miller's Antiques price guides.

He has designed the interiors of several other residences and hotels in the country.

Martin and his daughter Tanya, 39, have been planning a multi-million pound refurbishment for The Tors, starting later this year.

Tanya said the family loves the area and is looking forward to putting its mark on the hotel, which has a three-star AA rating.

Tanya said: "I moved back to North Devon two years ago from living abroad and I do love it here but I struggle with the summer temperatures.

"The hotel will be closed for two months from December 1 which will be followed by a grand opening in the new year.

"The changes will have a contemporary feel but will leave plenty of the hotel's character.

"The whole of the outside will be re-decked and we will be reinstating many of the hotel's open fires.

"Overall we will be making the colour scheme a lot lighter."

Tanya suggested there may be more alterations planned but they are not being announced for the time being.
