Heavy rain washes out North Devon sport fixtures

WATERLOGGED: Heavy rain has caused problems for sport clubs in North Devon.

A NUMBER of today's North Devon sport fixtures have been called off following this week's heavy rain.
Football matches at Ilfracombe, Witheridge and Appledore are among the victims and rugby has been affected too.
Ilfracombe Town's Toolstation Western League game against Winterbourne United is the second fixture to be called off this week because of waterlogging at Marlborough Park, following Tuesday night's clash with Willand Rovers.
In the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League, Witheridge versus Camelford and Appledore versus Newton Abbot Spurs have been postponed.
In rugby, Bideford's home game against Kingsbridge in Tribute Western Counties (west) is off but Barnstaple's match versus Chippenham at Pottington Road is expected to go ahead (2.30pm).
Postponed matches – football – Evo-Stik League Southern – premier division: Kettering Tn v Bideford (Kettering unable to fulfil fixture).
Toolstation Western League – premier division: Ilfracombe Tn v Winterbourne Utd.
Carlsberg South West Peninsula League – premier division: Witheridge v Camelford. 1st division (east): Appledore v Newton Abbot Spurs.
North Devon League – premier division: Barnstaple AAC v Ilfracombe Tn, Bideford v Bradworthy, Boca Seniors v Braunton. Senior division: Braunton v Torrington, Northam Lions v Lynton and Lynmouth, Pilton Acad v South Molton, Woolsery v North Molton.
Rugby – Tribute Western Counties (west): Bideford v Kingsbridge.
2nd XV: Bideford v Torquay Ath (Torquay unable to raise a side).
