THE HARD work of gymnasts and coaches at North Devon Display Gymnastics Club has been rewarded with some good results.

For most of the gymnasts, the recreational Exeter Challenge was their first competition and despite the nerves they came away with 21 gold medals, 15 silver and 17 bronze.

Some went on to take part in the higher-level Devon Novices competition where they were awarded two golds, one silver and a bronze, as well as gaining three fourth places.

In the Withy King Cup at Baskervilles in Bath, Phoebe Treml won silver and Kate Edwards bronze for their floor routines.

Michelle Gordon, North Devon Display's lead coach, said: "The gymnasts have worked so hard on improving their skills, spending hours practising; parents have been very supportive and the coaching staff have been so encouraging, creative and hard working."
