Schools out next week for pupils in Ilfracombe and there's plenty going on to keep the youngsters occupied.

It's all hands to the deck at the Ilfracombe Museum which is holding a morning of activities based on a theme of Shipwreck

Young landlubbers need to be there for 10.30am on February 22 for two hours of shipwreck trails, crafts and stories, and the chance to meet a real Lifeboat crew member and learn about their rescue missions at sea. You can also have a go tapping out SOS messages on our ship to shore radio.

The cost is £1.50 per child, with the accompanying adult free. There is no need to book, but contact Sara or Jane on 863541 for more information.

Here is something that may drum up some interest. The Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe is holding 'The Art of Noise' drumming workshop with Scott Craig of Samba Marcianas and Ilfracombe Rocks tutors.

This two-day workshop is on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 February. There are different times, depending on age. They are as follows: 10am -11am: ages 8-10, 11.15am -12.45pm: ages 11 & 12 , 1.15pm - 2.45pm: ages 13-15, 3pm - 4.30pm: ages 16+

It costs £5 for two days and is open to beginners as well as experienced drummers. There is an additional free drumming workshop – creative samba drumming - on Thursday, February 21, from 10.00am to 1.00pm for all ages.

Staff at Arlington Court need help corralling all their lost ponies currently scattered throughout the carriage museum. Can you help find the toy ponies who have escaped from the stables?  No need to book. Normal admission charges apply. The trail takes place at the carriage museum between 16 February 2013 and 24 February 2013 and is suitable for all ages.  For more information, please call Arlington Court, 01271 850296 or email arlingtoncourt@nationaltrust.org.uk

Treasure Trails are for all the family and are a fun way to discover your local town. Ilfracombe's circular Murder Mystery Trail is around 1.5 miles long and takes approximately two hours.  The Trail starts at the Landmark Theatre and helps you explore the gardens, Capstone Hill, Ilfracombe Quay and the quirky alleyways of the town centre.

This Trail comes in a booklet and costs £5.99. It is available from the Ilfracombe Tourist Information Centre at The Landmark Theatre, The Manor House Cafe and Ilfracombe Bookshop in the High Street.
