TWO men have appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm (GBH).
James Taylor Morrell, 25, of 72 Queens Avenue in Ilfracombe, and Derrick Mark Unsworth, 21, of Ruthin in Wales, appeared at North Devon Magistrates' Court last week.
The pair, who are charged separately for a connected incident, pleaded not guilty to a charge of wounding or causing GBH to Thomas Geoghan on September 3, 2012, in Ilfracombe.
Unsworth entered no plea to an additional charge of assault on November 10, 2012.
It is alleged the pair caused injuries to Mr Geoghan including a broken sternum, two black eyes and grazes to his back.
Magistrates decided both cases should be heard at Exeter Crown Court and adjourned proceedings for a committal hearing on April 12.
Unsworth was released on bail on the conditions that he should not be under the influence of intoxicating substances in public, he must reside at his address in Ruthin, Wales and abide by a curfew from 6pm to 10am and he must not enter the county of Devon.
Morell was released on unconditional bail.
