FRANCES LAUSEN has been named the top young cricket coach in the county.

The 18-year-old, who plays for Hatherleigh Ladies and is assistant coach of Tarka Girls, won the Sky Sports Devon Young Coach of the Year Award.

Frances, a left-handed batter, first played for Hatherleigh when she was 9 and has represented Devon at junior and senior level.

She has been coaching for three years and has helped promote girls' cricket in North Devon with Tarka, run by the North Devon District Youth Association. In June, Tarka won the Lady Taverners under-11 competition in Devon.

Frances, who is studying economics at Cardiff University, received her award from Peter Such, the ex-England spinner.
