THE winners of the North Devon Food and Drink awards will be revealed on Sunday.

More than 2,000 nominations were received from members of the public for this year's awards – a rise of almost 10 per cent on 2011.

The awards, organised by North Devon+ and sponsored by Farm & Cottage Holidays, give the public the chance to vote for their favourite pub, restaurant, cafe, fish and chips venue and local producer. There's also a special category for Super Service.

After the nominations are counted, the shortlisted businesses receive a "secret shopper" visit from a North Devon FoodFest judge who scores the business on a number of attributes, from cleanliness to product knowledge and service.

The winners will be announced at the FoodFest event in Barnstaple Pannier Market on Sunday.

This year chef Michael Caines will join Seth Conway of ITV Westcountry on the FoodFest stage at 1pm to present the awards.

The 2012 shortlisted nominees are: Best Pub: Stags Head, Filleigh; The Grove Inn, Kings Nympton. (2011 Winner: The Masons Arms, Knowstone). Best Cafe: Tea on the Green, Westward Ho!; Marwood Hill, Barnstaple (2011 Winner: Tea on the Green, Westward Ho!). Local Producer: Dan the Fishman, Clovelly; Browns Delicatessen, Torrington (2011 Winner: Lizzy's Larder, Milton Damerel). Restaurant: Fat Belly Freds, Barnstaple; The Oak Room, Lynmouth (2011 Winner: Noel Corston at NC@EX34).
