THREE fire engines were called to a gas leak in Appledore on Friday after a car collided with a gas pipe.

The incident occurred at around 4.10pm when a driver reversed their car into a garage and hit the gas pipe, causing a small leak.

Three fire engines from Barnstaple and Bideford were sent to the property in Polywell, Appledore, where they confirmed that there was a small external gas leak.

Crews used leak sealant to make the scene safe along with a hose reel jet and a safety jet as a precaution.

A gas engineer was then called to the scene. No one was injured in the incident.
