A FLASH of Italian inspiration came to Ilfracombe seafront on Friday in the form of two bright red Ferraris – worth more than £400,000.

A Ferrari 458 Italia and Ferrari California were parked outside the Strand Wine Bar on The Quay in celebration of the birthday of the late Enzo Ferrari.

In addition to attracting the two cars, the event also drew in crowds of motoring fans, and brought traffic to a crawl as drivers attempted to get a better view of the stunning vehicles.

Andy Maslen, who organised the event, said: "We were worried about the rain but now the sun's out they're looking fantastic."

There are hopes are to turn the event into an annual gathering along The Quay – drawing in dozens of cars.

Peter Gulliford, owner of the 458 Italia, said: "It was a bit of a spur of the moment thing this year.

"We wanted to celebrate Enzo's birthday and Andy suggested we should bring them down.

"Hopefully we can spread it a bit more next year and line the whole street with them.

"It's something that can be really good for Ilfracombe."
