IN its eighth year, North Devon Motorhomes is expanding after moving to new premises at Mullacott, near Ilfracombe. Run by father-and-son team Peter and Mike Stern, the company claims it can find the perfect vehicle for any customer, either from stock or supplied to order.

"I've grown the business from home," said Peter, who lives in Swimbridge. "But I've got limited space and so most of my business has been done via the internet, with my website acting as a 'virtual showroom'.

"After Mike joined and the business started to expand, we soon realised that we needed more space with dedicated facilities."

News that Peter and Mike were looking for suitable premises reached Tom Donovan, workshop manager at Mullacott Caravan and Motorhome Service Centre.

"Tom got in touch with a proposal that made perfect sense," added Peter. "He had a suitable sales forecourt and office space alongside a long-established caravan and motorhome service centre and a superb shop selling related camping and caravan equipment.

"I've been taking my vehicles to Tom for service and repair for years. It's the perfect location."

After signing the lease in April 2013, Peter and Mike spent a busy summer last year refurbishing the forecourt and office accommodation, while working to maintain a healthy volume of sales.

With the 2014 season getting under way, North Devon Motorhomes is looking to welcome many new customers as well as seeing familiar faces.

"We buy and sell and we have many loyal customers who come back to part-exchange or trade up to new vehicles."
