Carol Anne Emeralds were in great form to defeat club-mates Rubies in North Devon Netball League Division Two.
Both teams have introduced new players this season and it is starting to click for Emeralds as they netted 43 goals to win by 30.
Captain Naomi Williams led from the front, controlling the game and feeding her shooters.
Louise Flagg encouraged Rubies and worked well in attack with Thaliah Houle-Thorne.
Titans Voyager pipped Venners Bakery Anacondas 31-30 after taking an early lead but finding they were unable to pull away.
New player Emily Armitage used her speed to create space, while defenders Sue Back and Katy Douglas cut down Anacondas’ options.
The youngsters in the Anacondas team kept their heads up to prevent a big gap opening. Catherine Mitcham and Lizzie Nicholas were influential in defence, winning the ball to enable shooters Miriam Kimber and Sophie Lamont to score.
In Division Three, new team Chivenor Netters defeated Venners Misfits 29-21.
The Netters players are predominantly wives of Marines based at Chivenor. With a range of abilities, including some stars, they have started strongly and will no doubt prove a force to be reckoned with.
Elenoa Koroibanuve was outstanding in the shooting circle and Sophia Kamikamica teamed up with Sian Campbell to close down Misfits’ shooting opportunities.
Joss Allman worked hard for Misfits but they could not quite get on terms.
Carol Anne Quartz showed skill throughout the court as they scored the highest number of goals of the night in a 55-12 win over Bude Satellites, many of them netted by Lucy Gill.
Georgia Deeks and Ellen Napier used their speed and timing to win many interceptions. Mim Westaway worked tirelessly for Satellites.
Langtree Reunites Raiders continued to show great teamwork in Division Four as they beat Carol Anne Opals 42-26.
Both teams have young players but they played experienced netball as they moved the ball fluently down the court.
Raiders’ shooters created space for each other and Chloe Burrows-Bryan was voted player of the match.
Charlotte Buttery was dominant for Opals, scoring goals and bringing the ball down the court.
Venners teams Dodging Donuts and Jumping Japs faced each other in another close encounter, which finished 33-30 to Donuts.
Jumping Japs took a while to get going and Nicola Hawksworth and Lucy Friend’s movement and control enabled Donuts to take a good lead.
In the third quarter Jumping Japs came to life and started to close the gap but they could not quite do enough despite the efforts of Sophie Johns and Georgia Bunce.
