DRIVERS are being warned to expect significant delays if they are travelling out of the county this afternoon after heavy traffic on the M5 saw vehicles grind to a standstill.

Those travelling northbound along the motorway have been forced to endure start-stop traffic over a 62 mile stretch of the road between junctions 28 and 18.

One commuter reported travel times between Tiverton and Bristol were up to four hours.

Anyone planning to travel along the motorway are being warned to allow for extra time when making the journey.

No incidents have been reported, with the slow traffic said to be due to the shear level of traffic.
