A DOG-SHAPED collection box has been stolen from outside a Braunton butchers.

The 3ft tall container was taken from Reeds Butchers in Braunton on Monday, January 6.

The theft took place between 6.30am and 5pm, when staff first discovered that the recognisable donation box was missing.

The collection box was raising money for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and is thought to have had contained up to £30 in change.

A variation of the box, which resembles a golden retriever and has a black base, has been placed outside the butchers daily for the past 20 years.

Owner Tony Reed said: “If people want bones for their pets we don’t charge, we ask them to put a donation in instead.

“Charity box theft is absolutely terrible. We have never had anything like this happen to us before.”

Anyone with any information should contact the police via the 101 number, quoting reference number CN/14/22

It would be apt for the thieves to face the same punishment of Kim-Jong Un's uncle...
