DECISIONS, decisions ... What to have on your pancake was causing much deliberation among youngsters at a pancake party in Old Schools on Shrove Tuesday.

Barney, aged five and three quarters – he was very precise about his age – was trying to decide whether to have chocolate sauce, cream, toffee or maple syrup on his next one.

It wasn't only the younger customers who enjoyed the freshly made pancakes. Alan Cranleigh, who had probably seen quite a few more Pancake Days than Barney, had already enjoyed a cheese filled pancake and was about to make his choice of a sweet filling.

There was a lovely, cheerful atmosphere in the hall, as pancake-eaters of all ages enjoyed celebrating the day in the traditional way.
