DO you feel making your own bread would be rewarding? Professional baker David Jones from Manna From Devon Cooking School is offering courses aimed at helping you gain confidence to make your daily loaf.

His Bread and Baking in a Wood Fired Oven course runs on Sunday, June 9 and Sunday, July 7. Cost: £135.

"Once you have a basic understanding of bread making there are endless possibilities," said David. "It's so satisfying to be able to make your own Ciabatta or Focaccia for lunch or serve freshly baked English Muffins for tea and then later in the day impress your friends with a home baked Sourdough loaf.

"The bread making process is quite addictive and cooking it in a wood fired oven adds a great element of fun, as well as depth of flavour."

David and his wife Holly also host free wood fired oven taster days on the cooking school's Bushman wood fired ovens. If you're thinking about investing in a wood fired oven or would simply like to try one out you can visit on Friday, June 7, 11am or Friday, July 26, 11am.

Alternatively, if you would like to know how to cook everything from scallops to tandoori chicken in a wood fired oven then courses run on June 8, July 6, 27 or 28. Cost: £135.

There are also various other baking classes. Manna from Devon Cooking School is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty in Kingswear in South Devon. Details: www.mannafromdevon.com
