A DEPLETED Tiverton third team suffered a 37-3 defeat away at Barnstaple on Saturday.
Tivvy travelled with only 14 players but put up a spirited performance against a superior Barum team.
With no recognised No.10, Tivvy struggled to get out of their own 22 in the opening exchanges. They also had one player pick up a calf injury, forcing the match to be played with uncontested scrums.
A Barnstaple player was also air-lifted to hospital following a serious injury. The visitors found themselves 19-0 down at half-time. In the second half, with the breeze behind them Tivvy Thirds enjoyed a little bit more ball in the opposition's half and took the chance to get on the scoreboard with a penalty from Andy Taplin.
