MANAGER Tom Bulley said Darren Hawkings was the final piece in his Barnstaple Town squad.
The experienced centre back rejoined Barnstaple ahead of the new Toolstation Western League and went straight into the heart of the defence alongside captain Aaron Harper-Penman.
Hawkings has played with the same commanding presence he has previously shown for Barnstaple, Bideford and Ilfracombe Town in the Western League and put in a man of the match display in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Wincanton Town.
“Darren was a player we needed – he’s completed the squad,” said Bulley.
“He’s a quality, experienced player and that is something we definitely needed.
“He’s a player I want to keep. He has got a lot of commitments but if I can use him as much as I can, that’s fantastic.”
