A 21-YEAR-OLD man was made subject to a restraining order preventing him contacting two people.

Edward Sheils, 21, of Hugh Squires Avenue, South Molton, must not contact directly or indirectly Peter Miller or Crystal Brough, after being sentenced for criminal damage while a charge of assault against him was dropped.

Sheils had pleaded not guilty to assaulting Peter Miller in South Molton on February 7 when he appeared in court February 28.

In Barnstaple Magistrates’ Court again on August 19, the assault charge was dismissed as no evidence was offered but Sheils was given the restraining order and sentenced for another charge of criminal damage against Crystal Brough.
