A 50-year-old man landed up in court for grabbing the wrist of his partner during an argument.

James Danks had a row with his partner of eight years Janet Voaden about the tidiness of her son and grabbed her wrist.

Danks, now living in a caravan at Port Issac, Cornwall, admitted assault by beating earlier this month in Okehampton, Devon.

Prosecutor Chris Bittlestone said he did not let go of her and caused some reddening and bruising.

Defence lawyer Jeremy Wickham said lorry driver Danks and his partner had had some good times and travelled the world but he had got emotional during the argument.

Exeter magistrates said it was a ‘regrettable incident at the lower end of the guidelines’ and gave him a 12 month conditional discharge but did not order him to pay any compensation or costs.
