Staff at Barnstaple-based Atlas Packaging have put the finishing touches to a mural on the factory walls, which depicts the local skyline.

The mural was 'commissioned' by managing director, Jason Sharman, as an added boost for staff morale.

Mr Sharman said the manufacturing business, which designs and produces cardboard boxes for clients across the food, pharmacy and floristry sectors, was continually looking at ways to improve the working environment for its 100-strong workforce.

He said: "Happy people equal productive people.

"We polled all of the staff to find out what they would most like to see while they work and they unanimously voted for something that conjured up the essence of Barnstaple."

The skyline image was dreamed up and mapped out on the walls by Steve Kretowicz, a member of the company's structural design team, with colleagues helping him to paint the finished design.

Mr Sharamn added: "It's a great idea that really reflects our commitment to the community and the immense pride we take in being a part of it."
