PEOPLE are being invited to enjoy a cream tea and help to raise funds for a Braunton charity.

Westmead House will be opening its doors on Saturday so that visitors can enjoy a cuppa with a homemade scone, cream, jam and strawberries for £5 a head.

There will be a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses and a sale of plants given by local garden centres and individuals.

Westmead is a residential home for 19 adults with severe physical disabilities and is part of the Leonard Cheshire Disability organisation.

The home is hoping to set up a sensory room for its residents and all the proceeds from the event will go towards equipping it.

Westmead service manager, Eugenia Prior, said: "We do hope the community will come along to enjoy the day and support the home."

The cream tea is being held from 2pm until 5pm at the home, in Westmead Close just off the Saunton Road.
