A SMALLHOLDER has appeared before a Crown Court judge accused of threatening council officials during a dispute over her land.

Linda Elt, 64, is alleged to have made threats to officers from Mid Devon Council when they arrived to move vehicles and other items from her land at Chawleigh.

Elt appeared by video link at Exeter Crown Court from Eastwood Park Prison in Bristol where she has been held since her arrest on December 16.

She made no plea to a charge of making threats to kill and was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing in the near future.

She is alleged to have blockaded her property with a vehicle to prevent council officials enforcing a planning notice and threatened to set light to fuel.
