A hen rescue charity today appealed for people in North Devon to help give homes to 200 chickens.

The British Hen Welfare Trust, which is run from South Molton, works to find homes for commercial hens that have reached the end of their working life.

Over the past three weekends the charity's volunteers have collected three flocks of ex-commercial hens in Devon and there are still 200 which do not have a home to go to.

The organisation says several pick-up points are available and there is flexibility with collection times.
