HERITAGE Cob and Lime of East-the-Water, Bideford is used to delivering its traditional lime mortars across the UK, but was taken aback by an order for Windsor Castle in Berkshire.
"This phone call came as a complete surprise," said Sarah Rawle, who heads the operational arm of the business.
"Dean of Epping Plastering Services, who was carrying out the work, rang us and asked us to quote on supplying oak riven laths, double haired and unhaired mortar plus fine skim for the ceiling. When he gave me the address of where it was going, I was really excited, as was Evans Transport who delivered the order for us."
Heritage Cob and Lime is no stranger to sending its mortars to prestigious addresses in London, including grade one listed properties in and around Kensington and Covent Garden as well as up to the Liverpool Museum.
Sarah said: "The furthest our mortars have gone is for a listed building in Inverness."
