A CARAVAN fire at an Ilfracombe holiday park was fought by firefighters this evening.

One fire engine was mobilised by the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service at 6pm and headed to a caravan park in Berrynarbor, Ilfracombe.

A member of the public had reported a vehicle on fire and when the firefighters arrived they found "one vehicle well alight", according to a fire service spokesman.

The firefighters were forced to use a thermal imaging camera, two breathing apparatus sets and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
