A TWO-vehicle crash caused heavy tailbacks between Bideford and Barnstaple at rush-hour yesterday evening.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene on the A39, near the Westleigh junction, just before Torridge Bridge, at 4.40pm.
Officers said a yellow Transit van and silver Citroën Saxo, both registered locally, crashed on the Barnstaple-bound carriageway.
It is understood one of the drivers was left with neck pain, although police confirmed neither driver suffered serious injuries.
The incident caused tailbacks of approximately four miles as commuters tried to pass the blocked lane.
Police allowed traffic to pass the crash scene and arranged for the vehicles to be recovered.
