A CANNABIS user who stashed nearly £2,000 of the drug in a Jacob’s Cream Crackers tin was caught after police executed a drugs warrant on his house.
Martin Barnsby, 35, of Sampson’s Plantation in Fremington, said in an interview he paid £200 for the drug in a “crazy deal”.
He said he had intended to make it last until Christmas, but was caught by police on July 21.
Zara Svensson, for the defence, told the court Barnsby, who pleaded guilty to possession, had been cautioned in 2010 for growing cannabis.
She said he was no longer using the drug and had replaced the habit with going to the gym.
Magistrates fined Barnsby £180 with a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.
