Firefighters spent two hours rescuing a bull which had got stuck up to its neck in a slurry pit yesterday.
Fire crews from South Molton and Barnstaple were called to Hawkridge Barton Farm in Umberleigh at 1pm yesterday.
Barnstaple fire fighter Scott Martin said: "The bull was neck deep in the slurry pit with only the top of his back showing.
"It wasn't in too much distress and the farmer fed it to keep it calm.
"We used mud mats as a platform for us to stand on and put large straps around the bull which was fairly tricky.
"The farmer had a telehandler vehicle which we attached the straps to and lifted the bull out.
"We were there for around two hours in total."
The bull was unharmed.
