BODMIN TOWN scored twice in stoppage time to deny Witheridge a famous win in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League premier division.

Richard Groom's 77th-minute header gave Witheridge a 1-0 lead away to the premier division leaders and champions, who have lost only once in the league this season.

But as more than five minutes were added on at the end, Luke Hodge headed an equaliser for Bodmin and Lewis Reed's cross-shot found the far corner to snatch a 2-1 win.

Witheridge might have been out of sight long before the late double blow, but for Bodmin goalkeeper Kevin Miller.

He produced fine saves from efforts by Richard Blake, twice, and Jamie Dirrane.

After winning their first six games under manager Chris Vinnicombe, Witheridge have won only one of the last six.

They will try to climb back into the top half of the table when they go to Saltash United on Saturday and Cullompton Rangers on Tuesday.
