Appledore have become the first team this season to take a point off Boca Seniors in the North Devon League.

The Fishermen produced their best display of the campaign, holding the Premier Division leaders to a 1-1 draw at Marshford.

Tom Barton struck on the hour to put them ahead before Boca salvaged a point with Ciaron Lishman getting the equaliser 15 minutes from time.

Boca, who had won their previous 14 games, moved five points clear of Braunton at the top.

An excellent performance from Appledore was only marred by an injury for Rob Avery who suffered a broken leg after making a block tackle late in the game.

Fremington extended their winning run to four games with a 3-1 victory at Barnstaple AAC where Matt Ford, Andy King and Simon Larcombe got the goals.

The Ammies, depleted by injuries and suspensions, saw Richie Eaton claim their equaliser.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Torridgeside moved up to fourth with a 4-3 win at Georgeham and Croyde  and Ilfracombe Town beat Chittlehampton 3-0.
