Sean Downing will be delighted to line up with Owen Howe again when Bideford take on St Neots Town in the Calor League tomorrow.
The striker missed the FA Carlsberg Trophy match at Swindon Supermarine but is due to return for the Sports Ground clash with the Premier Division strugglers.
Howe, the 18-year-old summer signing, has not scored since the FA Cup defeat at Yate Town on September 28 but St Neots will do well to keep an eye on him – not to mention Kevin Squire, Ashley Yeoman, Craig Duff and Downing himself.
Downing believes Howe has helped bring the best out of other players.
“You can’t ask any more of a teenager,” said Downing. “With Owen coming in, it’s given Kev Squire a new lease of life. He realises someone else is going to share the workload.”
Bideford, in third place, will be determined to maintain their unbeaten record while, for St Neots, the long trip from Cambridgeshire comes after a 5-0 home defeat to second-placed Chesham United on Tuesday.
Tomorrow’s match will be Bideford’s first in the league for 18 days, since the 4-1 win over Chippenham Town.
Joyce said: “That feels like months ago. If we could play Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the moment, I would keep them coming. The boys are flying.”
