After eight wins from their nine warm-up games Bideford can head into tomorrow's opening-day fixture at Chesham United full of confidence.
The Robins will be without their captain, Matt Hockley, who is getting married, and Rob Farkins, the defender, who is suspended.
Last year, on their first game in the Calor League Premier Division, Bideford were beaten 2-1 at Bedworth United and finished with nine men after red cards for Hockley and Matt Bye.
But their record on the opening day is generally very good.
In 2011-12 the tone was set for an outstanding title season in First Division South and West when Aaron Harper-Penman scored on his debut in a 2-1 success against Bishops Cleeve.
Bye always seems to be in the action on the first day, scoring against Bishop's Cleeve and in the 2-1 win over Andover in 2010.
Four years ago Glen Armstrong was on target and was later sent off as Biddy started with a 4-0 win over Bishop Sutton in the Toolstation Western League.
Signed from Calne Town, Armstrong only stayed a few weeks but has the distinction of scoring the first goal in Bideford's last Western League championship season.
The Robins will hope for a similar strong start tomorrow although they will be up against it in Buckinghamshire.
Chesham finished third last term and are one of the favourites for the Premier Division Title.
